Hi all,

Just put my phone down to take a phone call (from another phone) without locking it. Screen dimmed and then turned off like normal. After I was finished with the call, I picked up my phone and the screen didn’t wake. Gave it a tap, and my home screen popped up without the usual Face ID unlock. I hit the lock button, heard the click, and tried again.

Again, no lock screen on raise, no Face ID lock. Just a tap, and I was on my home screen. I tried locking several more times with the same result, until after about 10 attempts my lock screen came up without the slide bar on the bottom and then my phone wouldn’t unlock at all.

A hard reset fixed the issue, but I’m kinda shocked this happened in the first place. Has this happened to anyone else? Advice?

I’m on an iPhone X running iOS 11.4.1, connected to original Apple Watch. Nothing else.

I have never had that issue, I have my devices set to require passcode immediately in settings though.. Seems isolated since your the first to post about it so I doubt it would qualify as a security issue in iOS, sounds more like something hardware/software on your particular device.
