Security Bulletin: NVIDIA GPU Display Driver Security Updates for Speculative Side Channels

I know the macOS supplemental update 10.13.2 (17C205) addressed this at the OS level, but NVIDIA GPUs are impacted by Meltdown and Spectre... anyone have a clear indication if the NVIDIA Web Drivers for Mac "fix" this issue, or if additional firmware updates are needed? Since these NVIDIA GPUs are not "officially" supported, there is no mention in the support documents.

In fact, some of the GPUs are officially supported by Nvidia in MacOS. e.g. GTX680, or Quadro K5000

You may open a ticket in Nvidia, they should able to tell you the answer.

Have already done so using my GTX680 for Mac as reference to open a ticket. Live chat support was not able to help. If firmware updates are required, it could be problematic for many if they are looking to address/fix. Really hoping the driver is the only "fix" needed. Then even the unofficial cards would be addressed.

The intial reports were just as you stated - the GPUs themselves are not impacted. However, in the several days following there have been reports that MAY suggest otherwise.

Latest update on open NVIDIA ticket: "Escalated to Level 2 Tech support"

Best to stay informed on PC sites as they know about these things earlier.

GPUs are unaffected but the drivers still need patching for CPU based vulnerabilities.
