I was thinking of just using some sort of bike cable lock and wrapping it around the handle. Does anyone have a better DIY solution?

The handle is attached the the outer case so looping through it doesn't really stop much. You have attached the cable to something that comes off the machine. The space frame bars protruding up on the front/back can be used as handles. (if cross in a tight loop over the top so case handle doesn't work or stop the lift away portion of the case top from clearing the cables.
Just out of curiosity, why would you need security cable for a desktop? Perhaps for dorm?

Might want to pick it up at your local Apple Store instead of having it delivered to your home in broad daylight with the entire neighborhood knowing about it...??I meant the handle that's part of the frame.
But good to know belkin is coming out with a security kit. Looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see what that is.

i just caught a couple of people tried to get into my place by breaking the screen of a bedroom's window recently. since i'm not going to be moving the mac pro around a lot, might make sense to just hook it up to a table or something that can't easily be removed.
i still need to carry it from my car to my room...?Might want to pick it up at your local Apple Store instead of having it delivered to your home in broad daylight with the entire neighborhood knowing about it...??
Late at night amigoi still need to carry it from my car to my room...?

put it in a trash bag before you carry it in?
"I wonder what that big square thing covered in a black trash bag that he is carrying on Mac Pro release day"Just wrap it with a quilt or trash bag or whatever.
I'm not leaving it in my car until the sun goes down.Late at night amigo

I mean, I never mentioned that people would know about a Mac Pro in my house. I'm only worried that someone might break in for other reasons and THEN discover a Mac Pro.I understand being careful after an attempted break-in. And being paranoid at that point is justifiable.
But how many thieves know about Mac Pro release day? And if that's a genuine concern for some reason I don't understand, wait a couple of days so that it won't be release day.
Alternatively, cover it with something misleading. For example this Ikea bag, so they will think you are getting cheap crappy lamps or whatever.
Or roll it up in a carpet so people think you are moving a carpet (or a dead body, which also works).

....
Perhaps info overload but I'm not seeing how this thing works.
https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HMUH2ZM/A/belkin-lock-adapter-for-mac-pro
The description is that this screws into the back of the Mac Pro with two Phillips screws.
"... The adapter mounts to the back of your Mac Pro with Phillips-head screws and does not modify or damage it. .."
So this is clamped on with two screws on the outside of the case? Limited set of pictures of the back I'm not grokking the attachment point. Presumably it is the stationary part of the back and the clamp keeps the case the sliding up.
right. it looks like this isn't what I'm looking for.
"Belkin Lock Adapter for Mac Pro secures the housing to the enclosure, preventing access to internal components."
it just protects the inside, but not the whole unit from being stolen.
