Well, I recently became the owner of a new 15" MBP with TouchBar, otherwise known as a very expensive piece of kit that I wouldn't want to gain legs and explore the world without me. I came up from a mid-2012 Unibody MBP that was the last to have a security slot built into the body so the idea of how to secure one of these more recent MBP laptops is completely new to me.

I'm interested in hearing how other people are securing their MBPs and how the various solutions have worked out for you. I'm most intrigued by "The Ledge" that's produced by Maclocks. It's the closest aftermarket product to creating a standard security slot in your MBP, but its appearance doesn't give me much confidence in it as a dependable solution. Granted, it's not like any security slot is really all that dependable if someone doesn't care if they damage the laptop in the process of swiping it, but it's a worthwhile deterrent.

Anyone out there have experiences with The Ledge or any other add-on locking solution?

My leading choices right now are

The Ledge

Snake Laptop Lock

PacSafe Exomesh

The PacSafe stuff is of a good quality. I use one of the PacSafe LidSafe bags for my helmet, when traveling. The downside to that one is that it only protects you when the notebook is closed and in the bag. The ledge looks the cleanest, but also looks to be the easiest to defeat

I second that. I actually already have a PacSafe Exomesh that I use for photography gear when I have to leave stuff in hotel rooms or my car. I could just stuff my laptop in the mesh with my other stuff. The drawback is that the Exomesh isn't very convenient to use.

The Snake seems to be an in-between solution that's very secure, fairly easy to get setup, and cheap. The drawback is that you'll have to plan ahead if you want to use it. It's not something that I'll have with me on a regular basis.

I am sure in a pinch, The Ledge will keep honest people honest, which is probably all most of them will do. It would be the easier of the 3 to setup and use and the smallest of the 3 to pack in your kit at all times.

Keep in mind, that the particular one you linked to, does not work with the 15" MBP with touch bar though, you would need to pre-order this one...
