Hello!

I have a strange problem, in my App Store updates there is the app called "Codebox" and i don't have that app installed. If you press "update" then it ask you for the apple id for buying it. I think that this is a important security problem.

Anyone has this problem?

EDIT: As you can see in the screenshot, the "update" text is not translated to spanish, and make this more suspicious.

No, I seriously doubt that. You, or someone else must have installed it at some point.

What it sounds like to me, is that someone installed it on your computer, using a different Apple ID to purchase it. Now, your App Store, sees a new version and wants to update, but knows that you did not purchase it.

This can also happen, no accusations here, if you or someone downloaded it from a "dark place" and the Apple ID associated with it is not yours.

I don't see any indication that this is a malicious application. If there is a security risk, it would have to be a physical security risk. In my opinion the most likely cause is that if someone installed it on your computer without your knowledge, someone is physically using your computer without your consent. (roommate, spouse, child, etc...)

I don't see why, other than trying to steal your programming code, if you are a programmer, anyone would do this. I am guessing you are not a programmer, or you would already understand this issue better. (I am not a programmer either.)

As far as the Spanish goes, the developer's name does not look like he is a native Spanish Speaker. Maybe you can email him and offer to create a Spanish translation for him. It is likely that he did not have a complete Spanish localization.

Thank you for your detailed explanation. I know what kind of app is Codebox but I am sure that i didn't download it. My girlfriend has her own mac with her Apple ID so i don't think that she wanted to download this kind of app, she is not interested in programming.

And about the translation, I'm not talking about the description of the app, I'm talking about the "Update" button. The button is part of the AppStore app so it must be translated, like other apps that i've already updated. So this makes me think that the update could be "inserted" manually in some way to appear in the App.

I've just found another user with the same problem, weird:

Should I report it to Apple?

It wouldn't hurt to report it to Apple. I know you are talking about the description in the App Store. I would think that Apple does not make the description, and that it should be written and translated by the developer, as well as the translation of the app itself.
