My internet provider, Spectrum, is offering Security Suite by McAfee for Mac as a free download.
What think you?
Good idea (for free) or not?

I have MalwareBytes for Mac, used it for years on Win machines.
I run it periodically and. Have yet to find anything.
[doublepost=1517666852][/doublepost]What about the new paid program 3.1.1.505?

MalwareBytes solved my problem with YouTube videos freezing. Call to Apple got me zipo.

Not worth the price in my opinion. Too many anti-virus apps require elevated privileges which introduce additional vulnerabilities.

The only product on McAffee named Security Suite is an enterprise product for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). If it's that what you mean, it can't be replaced or substituted by the great MalwareBytes.
I don't know what it does exactly, but I guess you can install it on your server, not on your Mac. Depending on what kind of services you're running on your server, it could make sense in general to improve security. Especially if there are many third-party uploads to your web service. If Security Suite is the right or the best product for that aim or just slows down your server is another question, that I can't answer.

+1.
MBAMM is more than enough for Mac.
Forget McAfee.

The only info I have at present is an offer from my ISP, Spectrum, for this free download. I’m not running a server of any type so I dpobt that they would offer that.

Actually it doesn't seem to be the anti-virus server software, but some other consumer anti-virus suite, that you probably won't need. If you're planning to try this and share your experience with us, I recommend making a bootable backup that you could revert to. Back in Mac OS Classic days I've been using Virex by McAfee that was quite good in detecting mainly windows viruses like Word macro viruses and stuff. How their software is doing today, I just don't know.

MacAfeee is good, but of its on a Mac, there is no need other than to scan for Windows viruses (when sharing Windows files).

If its for spam removal, the get a specific spam software like Malware bytes.. No need to have all the 'bells 'n' whistles' when you don't need to.

While it may be free now, its still paid eventually
