See .txt attachment content while writing draft email?

As title really.

In the screenshot you can see the .txt file attachment. Is there any way of actually opening it and seeing the content while editing the draft email?

After I sent it I could access and view the content fine but I seemingly can’t figure out a way while editing the actual email.

I tried copying it into a blank note and all it did was copy the photo icon of the attachment...go figure.

Edit: Ok, so I can’t copy and paste it into Notes but if I open Notes in Split View I can drag it across and contents of the text file populates the new note. Is this really the only way? I have to open another app to do it?

What if I was writing this email on an iPhone?

I thought long-pressing on the attachment opens it? Could be wrong (and unable to test at the moment).

Unfortunately not. If I do that it just turns “draggable” - if I don’t drag it anywhere then it just doesn’t do anything. It might have worked pre-iOS 11?
