My husband and I have sold our iPhones. I signed out of iCloud on mine and restored to factory defaults. Don’t know if hubby signed out of iCloud but he restored too.

Then we went back to old phones. Restored them to factory defaults then logged in each phone with our iCloud details.

The problem is we now have each other’s iCloud passwords saved in our passwords list. I haven’t got a clue how this happened but I am now concerned that the phones we have sold might be showing our passwords in the new buyers password lists!

Can anyone please advise?

Thanks

Do you have a Mac ? Dou you see husband passwords in Mac ?
Do you have a merged passwords ? Do you have same passwords on each device ?

No Mac. But 4 iPads. I see his passwords on all my devices. I have just deleted his passwords out of my iCloud for now but would love to know how it happened. Also his 11 pro that he sold was showing on my device list maybe that’s why! I just deleted it. Again don’t know why, I have never logged in on his 11 pro

Also. His iPhone 7 that I signed out of last night and reset to defaults was also in my device list. It’s as if Apple is remembering the old devices then merging stuff when reset up under a new user.

There is only chance how can do that - your husband try to use your icloud account on his devices 😊

You DID remove each phone from your AppleID device list, right? I don't think you should need to login to those devices, once you have removed them from your AppleID.
Just do another factory reset, stopping at the point where you set up as a new device. Stop before any setup, and shut the phone off - - it's ready to sell.

I’ve sold many phones and always do this. The phone has already gone to the new buyer days ago but I definitely reset it to the hello screen. Surely they won’t be able to see our passwords if they login with their Apple ID when setting up. I’m sure it’s fine.
