Is that why Steve Jobs did not give the feature to the iPhone and iPod Touch--that, he didn't want another switch or button on his precious iPhone?

Not to make excuses for Apple but I imagine a rotation lock is more needed for something like the iPad. Also, the homescreen on the iPad can be put into landscape, which makes a hardware switch better than a software option. On the iPhone I would prefer a software button to toggle the rotation lock.

That's a good point. A software toggle would be a lot better on an iPhone (and less physical buttons to worry about being damaged:eek:)
