I was doing a sync tonight when my iPhone stopped 80% through it was an unknown error (39). Tried again, this time lightening the load on the Sync. Still same error. One more time and I decided to restore. 60% through the Restore is gave me this Error message: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)." After spending 1.5 hours with a very helpful but puzzled Apple care Rep, he gave me an ID number and is sending me to an Apple store with a request for a new phone if they can't fix it there. If anybody has any suggestions or has heard of this, please advise.

Thanks!

Sounds like a dead duck. But cheer up you will get a fresh later build iPhone.

New Life!

I was fortunate to have my Father's MacBook to try a Restore on. Although not on the first time, ( Got error message (-50) about not being able to restore) it did pop back to life. I am currently syncing it back on my computer but it now thinks it is my Father's iPhone and not mine. After about 4 hours of trying I might be back in business.
