Hello All,

Its been a while since I posted here.

I am looking for some logo ideas for my mac game site www.ohmacgames.com I was thinking something along the lines of the cartoon apple logo on macrumors combined with some element of casual gaming, but I'm not sure.

I would appreciate any ideas. Also, if the mods would allow it I would like to make this a logo design contest.

Thanks and I look forward to some responses! :)

Regards,
Fahd

Well the thing with the MacRumors logo is the '?' on the righthand side to coincide with the rumor part of MacRumors. So the same logo with a gameing theme wouldn't quite work.

You want to make it a contest?

Pardon my cynicism, but will the prize be the prestige and honor of having my logo displayed on your website rather than...oh...say...actually being compensated financially for taking on this job?

Not again!!!

+1

I think it's cool when people post to share their designs that they're having trouble with. It nice when everyone chips in with constructive advice. But when people post to fish for free work it's not so cool.

I'd spend MUCH more time on the layout of your website at the moment rather than thinking about logos - it looks like one of those sites that's been abandoned by someone and been turned into a search engine.

actually you've got some serious brass neck asking for this to be turned into a contest - pop round to a couple of design agencies and see if they'd like to take part too.

Attention agencies! Now is your chance to take part in this exciting new logo design contest! The winner will have their work prominently displayed on a genuine Macintosh gaming website! Don't pass up this rare opportunity to do some free work for someone who apparently has absolutely no concept of how rude and arrogant it is to expect designers with whom he has no prior relationship to willingly do something for him for free.

sigh.

What is it about graphic design that makes people think it's not a real profession?

harsh -- but true

Yay the daily 'will you do my logo/design for me so I don't have to pay its true worth' thread.

I'll enter the contest where should I send my invoice too

Design isn't cheap, especially when it comes down to something as important as a logo, its the thing people remember about your company the most (well that and rubbish service)

Pardon my venting, but I agree with all above. It's like people think that the smaller the design, the easier it is. The truth (Fahd, listen up) is that logo design is one of the hardest print design challenges. It needs to encompass a whole company/concept/idea in a small, easy to read, easily recognizable, highly memorable package. Oh, and with type, which when done right, is not just throwing down some Papyrus and calling it a day. Argh. I wouldn't ask a forum of accountants to do my taxes and see who could get me the biggest refund for free, and I certainly would not do any design work for free.

Someone should put up a sticky with

"Free Logo Design"

Free [put in what you want] design, if you provide the designer with a free MacMini, iMac, or MacPro with quad cinema displays (depends on design complexity).

NO WE DON'T WANT TO DO YOUR PROJECT FOR FREE! GET IT? (Sorry to shout but I'm really getting tired of this kind of request.)

I know this isn't the best forum on the net to come and talk design but can we please stop posting nothing but threads on software troublshooting and requests for spec design.

I'm sorry we have had bad experiences with design contests which where abused and as such we took the decision to no longer allow them.
