Over the last month or so (possibly since 11.4 was released?) I've experienced seemingly random network issues on my M1 MacBook. I'll open a browser (any browser) and it'll take 30 seconds to load a site in a new tab. Oddly too if I right-click in a browser, the context menu can take a full minute to appear (presumably because there is some blocking network access?).

During an "outage" I've run a traceroute that seems to just stall upon its first hop out. So I figured it was a DNS issue and I tried updating the DNS settings on my router to a different provider, but no changes.

Other things I've tried:

1. Disabling wi-fi and only using wired ethernet
2. Different browsers
3. Clearing dns cache
4. Rebooting a million times :)

Other computers on my local network work just fine.

I am using a CalDigit TS3+ dock...and my router is a TP-Link Archer C5400X (latest firmware).

Any ideas?

Does this only happen on one network (i.e. your home network?)

I’ve had occasional issues like this, and every time it’s been an issue with the router. Certain routers have random issues with Macs, for some reason. Rebooting the router usually solves the problem.

Try on a different WIFI router otherwise do a reinstall of Big Sur from recovery as that tends to resolve a lot of quirky behaviors.
