Looking for advice.

Looks like I could sell my jailbroken 4S (32 GB Factory Unlocked) and get a 5 for even money. I am having too much trouble syncing between the iPad Air and 4s since the 4s is not on iOS 7. Pages won't even open on iOS 6 anymore. Any thoughts swaying me one way or the other would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I say go for it if jailbreak isn't so important to you. Bigger screen. Thinner much lighter. And especially if you get the black slate device. It's just gorgeous
You won't be disappointed.

Why can't you update to iOS 7 on your 4s? The 4 and 4s will run iOS 7. Or do you just want the 5 because you want to run iOS 7 on the 5 instead?

What about other things such as iLEX Rat or iCleaner Pro? There's even an app called iClean (free) in the App store that helps.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from getting the iPhone 5 (I love mine), but there are other options to try on your phone first if that's the only thing pushing you towards the 5.

I like the jailbreak but Pages no longer opens in iOS 6 so it's getting to where I will have to update to iOS 7.

Rather than updating I can sell it and use the money for a 5 without spending much extra.

Just wondering if it's worth the effort or not.

Thanks for the help.

If you use iLex RAT I would clean up your phone, fix your issues and keep your jailbreak.

Does this actually work? I could use something like this temporarily until I can jailbreak my 5s. Reviews look solid.
Yes, it does. I didn't think it would, but the first time I used it, it solved some issues.

I don't know EXACTLY how it works, but what it does is get rid of old data that's been deleted (or marked to be deleted). However it does what it does, it involves almost completely filling up the entire capacity of your phone so be prepared to click on a few "OK" buttons to let it do it's job. I use the safe mode.

I've had some stuff that started working again while it was in the middle of cleaning things up so that impressed me.

On the other side of it, it doesn't do anything that would hurt anything so trying it is essentially risk free. I've had the iPhone lock up when it's been doing it's thing and been left with almost no space because of that. A reboot cleared it and I got all the space back. So, again, it's essentially risk free. If it does not work for you it won't do any harm either.

I have icleaner still but it seems to be pulled off the App Store.

That's the app.

As to iCleaner, my original post was regarding iCleaner Pro, which is a Cydia app. I'm not aware of any app named iCleaner that was in the actual Apple App store. Unless you were meaning the non-pro version of iCleaner Pro (still a Cydia app)? Or something else? Just because I've never seen it in the App store doesn't mean it wasn't ever there, so I'm asking.

My issue is with Pages app specifically. With my Mac running Maverick and the air running iOS 7, the iPhone 4S will not open the pages app without updating. It gives a pop up that says to use pages you must update to iOS 7.

This will fix that?

Thanks!

it was on the App Store. but not sure why it was pulled down.
here is the review link.

I was going to use the one you mentioned. Then when downloaded the app was called lyric search(something along that name). The load screen was a photo of a girl, then it opens the cleaning app. Not sure why it needs to be disguised as another app. But I deleted it after seeing that. If that is normal behavior I might give it another shot.

I'm not experiencing that. But I have the iOS 6 version (the one you linked to seems to be the iOS 7 version). They might have gone ad supported and maybe that was one of the ads?

Here's what it looks like on my iPhone…

The iPhone 4S and 5 are quite similar you could just update to iOS 7 and get a better phone later if you really need to.

Mine was not like that at all. It's app name was lyric search on my home screen. It seems the developer disguised the app for some reason.
Fake app name, fake loading screen, but when it loads it has a similar layout as the one you showed. I am hesitant to reinstall the app just to take a screenshot.

Hmm…well, I just did a search in the app store on my iPhone 5 for iClean. The suggestion comes up for iCleaner, but if you just press the search button…this is the result.

I have labels off on my jailbroken iPhone so I don't know what it's calling itself because I can't see the names so maybe it is calling itself Lyric Search, IDK. IFile says it's iClean though.

IDK. it's the same app I downloaded that is in your screenshots. price was .99 not 1.99

What a difficult conundrum to solve.

This is the app I installed earlier today. Thanks eyoungren. The app cleared 500mb after it ran. I'll do the slow clean tomorrow and see if I can clean out some more space.

FYI I only paid $1. Your screenshot says $2. Maybe it went up in price. I'll check AppShopper to see if that happened.

Edit: Yes it coincidentally went up in price today lol. Glad I grabbed it when you posted that haha. Also the app name on the springboard does in fact say "Lyric Search" but everything else says iclean. That's very strange but everything else has been explained.

Thanks again for the tip eyoungren!

500MB? My 4S on iOS 6.1.2 and only get like 220MB total freed.

That's a bummer. Maybe there's better optimization on iOS 7 or maybe iOS 7 allows for greater power. Too many variables to say exactly why I freed more space. I'm happy with that amount. That's roughly what I was getting from iCleaner Pro when I ran it monthly.

Glad to see it worked for you Bumps. BTW, just call me Erik. :)

I don't recall paying anything for this app, but I got it months ago so I'd have to go look. No idea about the "Lyric Search" thing, but if it works (and it does) I don't really care.

Yeah. IDK how it does it, but it does work and as a non-jailbreak solution it's awesome. I use it in conjunction with iCleaner Pro and both end up usually doing wonders.

Regular maintenance on my iPhone is not something I thought I'd be doing, but in a way I'm glad I can do it. Beats a restore!
