Thinking I am going to Sell my 2015 MBP, I love it I just don't use it anymore. Problem is that it has a screen issue where the left 1" of the screen is black. I can get some fuzz and colored pixels to show if I push on the lower left corner, but otherwise its dead.

Replacement cost of the screen has been pretty steady at about $400, and its never been that big of a problem for me to warrant that cost of a repair. It is in nearly perfect condition otherwise. Question is, would I get the most money out of it by parting it out, or selling as a whole? There aren't very many of these machines out there for sale so I can't get a proper gague on what to ask for, especially with the screen the way it is.

Ideally I want to use the funds to replace my 10+ year old iMac with the Studio for my wife. She's visually impaired so being able to attach a huge screen to it is a great plus. Thanks all!

15" or 13"? The going rate dropped quite a bit after the 14" and 16" came out. I had a 13" for sale and wasn't getting any decent offers so just decided to keep it as a backup.

I corrected the title, it is the 15". I can probably find a use for it. I have not taken it apart yet to see if its just a loose cable like some have reported, but I'm not super handy with that sort of thing. I know taking it to a repair shop will cost more than its worth.

In the same boat. Upgraded to the 14 inch that came out recently from my 2015 15 inch. Turned around to sell the 15 inch and the resell dropped dramatically. With the screen issue you're having, I would imagine it would knock a decent amount off the selling price as well.

Wound up keeping mine for a backup. Another thing to consider is converting it into a desktop setup more or less (just hooking in some external peripherals). Might be better than selling it for a few hundred dollars.

Based on the low prices for computers with issues, I would keep it around for use as a desktop.

I have one, and I'm keeping it. Gonna buy a new screen for it. Not shelling out 2k+ for a 14"/16" M1 and this is the only macbook other than the M1 that fits my needs. Probably not economically reasonable though.
