Hey guys. Normally I'd check the "completed listings" section on ebay for recomendations but I'm selling more than just the computer so I was hoping you guys could give me some guesstimates on what I could sell it for? Buy now? Auction?

27" iMac core i5 model(purchased in December)
8gb RAM
no other upgrades

extras: free installs of Office 2008, iWork 09 and Garage Band Jam Packs

The computer is mint condition, shipped in all original packaging.

Any suggestions?

Why are you selling it?

I'm selling it because I would much rather have a macbook pro and an HDTV for use when I want to watch movies. Having two computers, for me personally, has proven to be absolute overkill. I've booted the thing 5 or 6 times in the two months I've had it...seems like a waste of 2 grand.

Two questions:

1. With 8gb ram, you still suggest only 16-1700? Interesting

2. Why can't I just install the software? Is there an ebay policy on this?

1. That's the price Mac2Sell (the link I gave) offered. It might not be correct though. Look at eBay and see for what price those machines go for.

2. I don't know about eBay, but as that software is not free, only the owner of the license (most of the time, the purchased medium of storing the software, the CD/DVD, with the serial number on it) has the right to have the software on her/his computer.
Thus if you sell your Mac with the software on it, but without giving the CD/DVDs, the buyer is committing piracy, and you mostly might be responsible for enabling the buyer and maybe even can be viewed as a fraud (selling a machine with software on it, but not giving the license).

Have a look at eBay's policies, but I advise against the sell of software without the installation medium.

stock i5 ships with 4 gigs of ram, to boost it to 8 gigs would cost $100.

so 8 gigs of ram isnt anything big.

And like already stated, that software isnt free. As soon as you sell it, its now treated as an illegal copy.

ebay may, or may not, pull your ad.

the software is really useless without discs.
