Hiya, I'm from the UK and I bought an iPhone 8 on launch day in the US as mine had broken whilst on holiday, I am back in the US at the beginning of May and thiunking of getting an X whilst i'm there

I need to offload my iPhone 8 and can't really do it with any of the selling sites over here as the IMEI number is not recognised in the UK

So....I was hoping that I could trade it in at an Apple Store but they don't seem to accept iPhone 8 as a trade in but looking at my options the only "safe"option seems to be an ecoATM which will give me up to $400

I'm not interested in Craigslist or eBay as I don't want to be meeting strangers and exchanging large amounts of cash whilst on holiday

Does anyone have experience of these ecoATm Machines? Also are Apple likely to offer trade in's on iPhone 8 before the next iPhone comes out?

I looked at GameStops website and they max out at just under $300

I’ll wait and see what the prices are like when I’m over there, gonna “trial” an X for 2 weeks over her first

Just wish Apple would add the 8 to the trade in list, they must know people would do this to upgrade to the X

I watched people using the ecoATM today at the mall. Did not get too close due to privacy but they ended walking away with their phone in their hand. They were offering pretty good money for used Apple but the prices for Samsung were in the toilet in comparison.

I have gotten pretty good money at GameStop if the phone was in good condition.

I remember when I purchased the iPhone 7 when it launched, I had the iPhone (4.7) 7 and 7+ and I wanted to trade in my 4.7 iPhone 7. It literally was three weeks old and I remember visiting a local game stop and they quoted me a ridiculously low number and it was in mint condition. I passed on their offer, being it was even considerable on how bad it was.

Yeah it seems results vary. Maybe based on their need for inventory at the time. I have sold iPads and an iPod Touch there and actually got more money than I expected.

Same here. Their website was offering $400 and two different stores were only offering me $250.
