selling iphone on ebay clarifications

Hi everyone.

I am planning on jailbreaking and unlocking my iphone (1.1.4) and selling it on ebay. I'm completely new to the process. I just have a few questions before I start.

1) iLiberty or Pwnage tool? I know this has been discussed at length in other threads. From what I've read, Pwnage seems to be easiest/safest way to unlock. Is this true... especially for newbies? I have a mac btw.

2) Once the phone is unlocked, I can use my old SIM card in an old ATT GSM phone as I wait for the 3G iphone. Is this correct?

3) Sell my unlocked iphone on ebay. Is it true that unlocked iphones sold on ebay don't come with SIM cards? Are the buyers typically aware of this? Do I need to go into an ATT store and pick up a new SIM card?

no.. you have to KEEP your sim.. if not buyer will use your sim to call people it will make rise your bill..
and doesnt matter about unlocking you ONLY selling iphone not give them SUPPORT..

1) Both are good. I just sold my 8gb on ebay, and originally unlocked with ziphone (before I read up on some problems people were having with it). When the guy got it in the mail, his SIM would not work. Had to walk him through restore and unlock with iLiberty, it worked after that.

2) Like the other poster said, yes. Be prepared for iphone withdrawal though . . .

3) No one expects you to give them your SIM card. To be safe, be sure to specify in your listing that the SIM card is not included, as well as a contract is not included.

Some tips on creating a good listing on ebay so you can get top dollar:

1. Use a good, descriptive listing title like: UNLOCKED Apple iPhone 8GB Jailbroken Any GSM SIM 1.1.4 (everyone uses this, and you'll get more search hits this way).

2. Use a subtitle to say if you are including all original accesories and box, as well as if you are offering free shipping or worldwide shipping.

3. Take good photos, as many as you can (12 max). Yes, it'll cost you each additional photo, but it is cheap and worth it. Make sure none are blurry, and if you have any scratches or dings, make sure to show them in the photos.

4. Offer free shipping in the U.S., discounted if shipping worldwide. People will think they are getting a good deal, and usually end up bidding a little higher, so it all works out.

5. I neglected to mention that I wouldn't offer technical help to the buyer in my listing. State that the buyer should research the iPhone and about unlocking/jailbreaking it, how to install apps, etc.

6. For a used 8gb, in good condition, expect to get between $365 - $405. I sold mine for $395, but saw a few go for $425 and a few go for as little as $325. The lower ones suffered from bad listings and photos. Also, while you might be scared to, start the bidding out low, no higher than $200. And no reserve. You'll get more watchers and bidders that way. Use as quick as an auction as you can (I could only do 3 day, but if you have enough reviews, you can do 1 day). Bidders feel pressured to make a decision if the auction is shorter.

7. Its up to you if you want to offer to international customers, and even then you can select which countries or regions (such as Canada or W. Europe). I had quite a few offers from international, but ended up with a high bid from someone in the US.
