So I'm selling my iPhone 4 but in case the buyer wants to have his/her new phone still jailbroken, what is the best way to restore the phone to factory settings (wiping all my personal data, Cydia purchases etc) from the phone?

My phone is currently on 6.1.0 and I have the SHSH blobs for it with TinyUmbrella. Can I just restore to a downloaded version of the 6.1.0 firmware? How do I apply the SHSH blob?

Delete apps individually. Do not reset all settings or you will mess up the jb phone.

You can't use iTunes to restore. Try iLex RAT. You can restore it to a like new place and keep the jailbreak. I've done it and it works well. Make sure you have our original font running first.

In case someone needs this as well, if you have SHSH blobs saved for your firmware, then you can just use Sn0wbreeze to create a custom firmware and use the software to restore.

As long as iFaith says his saved SHSH is complete, this would work - but many of those 6.x.x SHSH are not complete.

Both work.

If you have full and valid blobs you can restore the ip4 to stock 6.x and offer it as stock with jb ability, more value/wider audience

Thanks for the info

Afraid I missed the boat for the iOS6 to iOS6.1.2 blobs, however it is unlocked so should still be attractive!!

One thing I have noticed though, how can you log out of your Cydia User account as the iPhone is still eligible to download purchased Cydia apps such as 3G Unrestrictor, Zephyr etc?

There is no way to remove the connection of a device to previously installed Cydia apps.
So once the new owner fires up Cydia, he/she will be able to reinstall the Cydia apps.

I have communicated directly with Saurik's team, unfortunately this is a shortcoming of the Cydia process.

Does that mean a new user would be able to make purchases in Cydia using your PayPal, etc. if that's still linked/saved as well?

As stated, without knowing the email/username and password they cannot log in.

But any Cydia hack can be reinstalled back onto the phone if it has been installed before.

Thanks for the reply, I don't have a problem about this - if the next owner decides to jailbreak the iPhone and find/install the purchased tweaks then good on them - moving on to something different and won't be needing them!

To clarify - using iLEX RAT/RESTORE will remove all contents such as personal/sensitive information from the iDevice?

Yes it will remove all and bring it back to a pristine just jb device

Since I don't have any blobs, this is gonna be my best bet then? And just to clarify; I run this, then pull my SIM out when I'm done (before the phone goes bye-bye). Mine is at least a factory-reset phone. Thank you AT&T.

Do not enter your AppleID when activating the phone after running iLEX-Rat
The sim will activate it, then remove it and turn off phone.

Well; other than a few hiccups through the 'cleaning' (iTunes kept wanting to update the phone to 7.0.4), it finished up & is currently restored on 6.1.2 & still has Cydia showing. Phone is all boxed up & ready to go. Thanks again for the input. Hope the actual sale goes as smoothly... :)

Same process for an ipad 3 wifi/ cellular?

I'm on 6.1.2 and used evasion. Going to sell it to a co worker and he wanted to keep it jailbroken if possible.

I just noticed evasion won't take me to itunes "set up as a new ipad" like pwnage tool does.

Either software will remove all personal information? And is either one more thorough in cleaning and restoring?

I have a windows pc need be for semi restore.

The recommendation is to use iLexRat from Cydia, evasion is not used again one it is jailbroken (as you say your iPad is)
