Selling iPhone

I know nobody knows for sure but how much would you guys guess I will be able to sell my 16gb iPhone 3gs and my girlfriends 8gb iPhone 3g, when the new iPhone comes out.

If the new iPhone is something we are interested in which I am sure we will be we are going to sell our 2 phones now to put towards the new iPhone.

right plus take into account that if you wait until the new phones are released and if the new phone has a jailbreak and unlock that will impact the price of both of those phones the 3g more than the 3gs
 
Yea, I know I have a while. I was kind of just curious of what I might be able to get.

I would also jailbreak the phones if the person who bought them wanted that.
 
If it were me, I would sell them a week or so before the new one comes out, and use an old phone for that time. I would imagine the price would drop a lot after the new one comes out.
 
i just sold my black 8gb 3g for $250 thru craiglist, took about 2 days to find a buyer. I did get about 100 emails in those 2 days. lol
 
I would suggest waiting until the announce the new phone and the prices

then buy some cheap att phones and sell both iphones

the 3gs youll most likely get about 375 400 maybe 350-375 if unlocked maybe 75 more

the 3g is losing value fast...if possible you should sell that asap i see them go on ebay 275-325 definitely it will be less near the time the next one is released
 
I searched it. The 8gb 3g is selling near or at $300. The 16gb 3gs is selling for $400-$500.


I would definitely sell them a little before the new one came out because I know the price will definitely drop.


I plan on buying 2 iphones one in which I will have to buy full price the other at the upgrade price. Im guessing I will have to pay about $800 for both new iPhones.

If I can get close to that and only have to pay about $100-$200 for both new phones on release. I will be happy

some advice unlocked and jailbreak both phones and load them with things like tom tom and dtunes and others ....search you will know which ones and depending on your area you may get more for them.....on CL i can get $350-$375 for a unl and jb 3g and I just sold a unl and jb 3gs 16gb with 10 months of apple care on it for $575..

Good info.
Things like Applecare, unlocked and jailbroken and also expensive apps like turn-by-turn GPS apps and games preinstalled will bring up value.
 
I upgraded both phones to 3.1.3 but by the time I sell it a few months from now there should be a jailbreak for it.

Is unlocking easy to do too? Because jailbreaking is really easy and I have done it numerous times with the ipod touch.

Any tips or videos to watch on unlocking would be appreciated.

Unlocking is just so you can use it on different carriers correct? Like T-mobile.

Yes, unlocking is so you can use it on any GSM carrier.
Unfortunatelly by upgrading to 3.1.3 you lost the unlock option and I doubt they'll bother releasing one till the new iphone comes out.
JB is an option for the 3G model, not currently for the 3GS unless you have your SHSH's saved thru cydia.
 
i agree with applejuiced on the not releasing anything for the 3.1.3 as far as unlock goes .............but the 3gs woul still be a good buy to someone who has at&t service but does not want to extend their contract
 
Actually the 3g is still at 3.1.2 can I unlock that?

Anyone care to send a good video on how to jailbreak and unlock it?


So I guess I will be selling a regular 3gs and unlocked jailbroken 3g.

umm i doubt you are going to get that much 4-5 months down the road

a better estimate would be $500-600 for both phones

Agreed. Even now, unless you live in a particularly good market, I'd place the value of the 3g at $250 max and the 3GS at $400-$500. Unlocked and on ebay, maybe a little bit more 'sticker price,' but then you have to pay ebay and paypal fees, and selling an iphone on ebay can be a real hassle. I'd sell locally if at all possible.

Yea I would try to sell locally. I will gladly take $500-$600 for both phones and only have to pay about $200-$300 for both new iPhones.
