Selling Line Spot

I think you'd get absolutely nothing. You might get a couple of people wanting to beat the crap out of you. So you have to ask yourself. Do you feel lucky?
You're much better off buying an iPad then trying to sell it to the other thirty people in line who didn't get one and are pissed off. You could make at least an extra hundred easily this way. Otherwise, the people behind you will get angry if you're there to sell your spot and the people who actually show up may not think they'll need to pay for your spot. Then, you'll look stupid in the morning when you're supposed to buy an iPad and as you said you won't have money with you for it.
If there's extra stock. There's bound to be a least a few extra iPads. have fun waiting all day for nothing if you aren't going to buy one

Well, as others have pointed out, those you attempt to sell your spot to are likely to be cranky. The person directly behind you, once he/she finds out you're just there to try and make a buck is going to be really, really cranky. And, were you to do this at the Apple Store I'm going to be at, it's in a shopping mall. Solicitation in the mall is illegal. There are actual police officers working security there who will be more than happy to write you a ticket. Actually, they could write you two, one for illegal solicitation and one for loitering. Not only would you still not have an iPad, but it could cost you in the area of $2000 and/or a couple days in jail. Fun times.
My two friends and I waited in line for the night and were like 30th back I think. So many people showed up right before the store opened and asked how long we had been there. One happily offered me cash for my spot and others did too for my friends spots. $160, not bad for a few (at the time) high school students who just had to sit in lounge chairs all night.
During the Xbox360 launch several years ago, we waited outside in the cold mist for 8 hours. Just before store opening, someone at the front of the line sold their spot for $150 cash to someone at the end of the line that didn't get a ticket.
I witnessed it. True story. It angered me too since I didn't get a ticket and didn't get a 360, but some jerk that had gotten into line hours after me and was stupid enough to throw money away got his 360.
If you do this, you are cheating people that have stood in line for hours trying to get an ipad by giving it to someone that hasn't stood in line for as long (unless the guy immediately behind the last guy to get a ticket is willing to pay you something).

Eh, I'd be more upset with the person who sold their ticket rather than the person who bought it.
Unfortunately, there is a loophole for just about everything. Either way though, one person did the waiting and another did the spending, so I can't really be too upset either way. The part that matters is were YOU in line long enough to get a ticket.. if not, then whatever happens outside of that is irrelevant. What's the difference between selling a spot in line and selling the product you buy? There isn't really one.
If someone was cutting in line, or someone was bringing friends in who hadn't been waiting, then I can see the issue, but selling a spot in line doesn't make your chance of getting the product any better or worse.
I promise you I am not lying, why would I even lie about something like that? Not only did one idiot do it 2 more paid just as much to my two other friends and I'm sure we could've gotten more if we had tried harder.

When I went for my iPhone, I saw a guy sell his spot in line for $300. . . and the line wasn't that long!
