I de-authorized the machine on iTunes.
I deleted the User and had the files securely erased.
I had the remaining free space securely erased.

Did I miss anything?

While that may do, why not do a clean install of Mountain Lion? Did the machine come with Mountain Lion or an earlier version of Mac OS X? I just ask, because if you purchased Mountain Lion separately from this machine, there might be some licensing issues due to the new owner not having the correct Apple ID for that OS.
Normally it is best to use the original OS version for the clean install, especially since Lion and Mountain Lion do not come on any physical media. You could however include a USB flash drive with the ML installer and have the new owner install ML themselves in order to have the correct Apple ID. Though that might all be moot, as ML can be pirated quite easily without the need for an Apple ID.

Ah, it's late and I have not arrived completely here, as you can see by the absence of any nice formatting or links and such useless drivel.

Duff-Man says...in addition to the OS being tied to the Apple ID by not doing a proper reset on the computer (reformat and reinstall the OS) there is also the issue of the other software on the computer. Unless you are including any and all licenses and discs for those apps you have installed they are not yours to share as you please, and in effect you are "pirating" them. I *always* completely wipe the computer before I pass it on and install whatever OS and Apps came with the computer and the licenses that are tied to that computer....oh yeah!

Boot while holding command-option-r (all three at once). That will take you to Internet recovery. From there start Disk Utility and select the drive band name at the top (like Seagate 1YB or whatever) then erase the entire disk. Then quit Disk Util and click reinstall OS.

Apple's servers will see your serial number and give you the OS version that came with your machine. At the end you will have a disk with nothing but a fresh install of Mountain Lion.
