Please help, I'd really appreciate it. :)

I'm selling my 3GS (non-jailbroken) because I need the pocket money. I'm gonna sell it on Craigslist.

Before I meet with a buyer, what do I need to do?

I will:

- Restore iPhone to factory setting
- Erase all personal info and contacts, etc. etc. (duh!!!)
- Remove my SIM

Is that all? What do I need to tell AT&T? Can I just tell them I lost it, and that way I can replace it with a cheaper/different phone?

What happens to the person who buys it off me? If I report it lost to AT&T, will that affect the person who bought my phone or will they be OK? I don't want somebody knocking on my door asking for their money back after we made a deal!

Please just clear up those concerns for me... Thanks!

OK can you NOT reply to this if you're looking to make immature or stupid little jokes??? I'm just trying to sell my phone and make some money, and I wanna make sure there's no problems if I report it lost afterwards. Please. Thank you.

As others have said, your plan is fraud, which is a crime. Don't do it. And certainly don't ask for our help in doing it.

i don't know what you're trying to do.

if you already have another phone, you should be able to switch easily, but why leave iphone?

Fraud.

You do not have to report it lost to sell it. Just sell it. There is NO WAY you will get another subsidized phone (even if you DID lose it). You're stuck for 2 years.

"fraud"??? PLEASE. All these "fraud" puppets.

WHERE on the AT&T contract does it say "You cannot sell your iPhone. That is fraud. You're stuck with it for EVER AND EVER."

So if YOU DO Sell your iPhone, and you don't wanna commit "fraud", what are you supposed to do? Tell AT&T you sold it?

What's the difference? What are they gonna do if you sold it, sue you for breach of contract? Slap you on the wrist? Kill you? Seriously...

You keep it honest. That's how you avoid fraud.

Claiming you lost it in order to get a cheaper phone as the OP described is fraud.

There is no harm to you or your commitment to AT&T if you sell the phone.

You should really read the posts before you attack others.

you don't know how to read. he is clearly looking to get a cheaper phone from ATT for no reason saying he lost it, while pocketing the money from selling it.

that is fraud. it's like selling your car to someone and then saying your car was stolen to collect on insurance.
