Quick question, I've had my 20" Imac since march of 06' and loved it but it is time to move on (getting a macbook, maybe the white one with the updated 9400 graphics, or I might get the new 13" still not sure)

I'm selling it to a buddy of mine, I want to re-install Tiger. I know the Imac came with a disk, is that the actual OS or is that one of them disks you get like when you buy a dell or something and they give you a windows recovery disk?

Can I stick that in the drive and do a fresh install?

He said it did not matter if it had Tiger or Leopard installed, so I'll save myself a few bucks and just install tiger for him.

Thanks,

Mike

youre iMac would have come bundled with Tiger and iLife '06. the first grey install disc contains Tiger and the second iLife.

just do an erase and install and then when you get to the intro movie just turn it off. when youre buddy turns it on he will be greeted by the intro movie and can set it up just like its a new Mac.

OK thanks,

I assume erase & install is one of the options I get when I stick the disk in?

I have never done it so I assume some sort of menu will pop up asking me what do to, I've installed xp & vista (Linux too) a millions times but never os x.

I'll figure it out, I was just wondering if one of those grey disks actually contained the full os x or if it was a restore disk of something.

Thanks again.

insert the first install disc and double click on "Install Mac OS X…" and then click "Restart" and it will boot into the installer. (or just insert the disc and reboot holding C.)

after youve chosen your language proceed to where there is an options button and you can choose the installation type from there.
