Hi
I'm selling my black macbook. I am upgrading to an ipad two as my mobile computer for note taking in college and an imac for at the apartment use mostly for web design, hd video production and editing, creating video montages etc. I own a 42" panasonic 1080p 3D tv that is less then three feet from where my new desktop will be.
Is it possible to occasionally use the TV as a monitor for the computer via vga or hdmi? Then possibly is there an app on the ipad to control my computer like a trackpad when it's displayed on the tv? Maybe I'm getting a bit ahead of myself this is all speculation im doing the research to find the best desktop for me. Am I better off purchasing a mac mini and just using my tv as a monitor and ipad as the mouse? If the Imac isn't capable of being connected to my tv occasionally then I wont be purchasing it.
Anyone use there ipad for note taking during lectures? how does it work out. I will mostly use the ipad for games, notetaking, web browsing, and watching movies during travel. is there an external keyboard for the ipad? is the on screen ipad keyboard quick to type on? will I be able to keep up with the pace of the lecture?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks!

Air mouse can be used as a mouse and keyboard. Yes you can connect your tv to your imac but your will need a minidisplayport to hdmi adapter/cable

I have the first gen iPad and I quite enjoy it. It is handy because it is quick to use as you dont have to wait for it to turn on every use. The is an external key board you can purchase but it can only be used when the iPad is in portrait view. The on screen keyboard is not as easy to us as I would like. My brother got an iPad for his university lectures and ended up selling it for a macbook because it didnt do as much as he needed. Hope this helped! :)
