Guys I currently have a new imac 2.4 500 gb 3gb ram. I have been thinking about selling it to get the newer version but I still considering it because i dont want to lost money on it, What is your opinions on this?

One thing you may consider and this is my plans. Keep the Apple while it's under warranty factory 1 year and don't buy the extended. Once the year is up toss it on e-bay and get your money out while it's still has a high price tag. That is one thing I'll say is good about Apple's price fixing.. It keeps the prices high, even on used machines.
I'm just about to order the 2.8 refurb. I'll save $200 right off the bat and it has the bigger HD than the new model 2.8. I'll sell it soon as the warranty is up on ebay and I bet I only lose $200 to $300, judging on what prices of older machines go for.
At that point I can either buy a refurb of this brand new generation or pick up what ever the current refresh is.

I agree with what everyone else has stated in here already. I just upgrade my system, but I went from a Power Mac G4 Digital Audio 733Mhz, yeah it was slow, to a used Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8Ghz.
The reason for me telling you this, what will the new iMac do that your current iMac can't? The difference between the Power Mac G4 and the Power Mac G5 would be similar from going from a Power Mac G5 to a Mac Pro. However going from a Power Mac G5 Dual 1.8Ghz to a Power Mac G5 Dual 2.0Ghz . . . I would honestly not be able to see the increase in performance. Seriously, a new iMac will still be able to do all the stuff you currently do, just a WEEEEEEE little bit faster than your current machine.
OH and yes you will lose money if you sell your current system now and buy another system.
