So I have a couple old iPhone 2Gs sitting in my drawer at home and I figured I might as well get some money for them rather than letting them sit in my drawer and gather dust.

So, I'm wondering what I would have to do before putting them on eBay? Obviously I'd wipe them clean but the issue I'm wondering about is that when I power them on it says I have to connect it to iTunes before it well let me do anything at this point. It appears like I have to reactivate the phone in order to wipe it clean.

So, is it safe to take my SIM card from my current iPhone 3GS and activate my old 2G? From there I could wipe it clean and then jailbreak and unlock it to sell it on eBay. Would I be able to just move my SIM back over to my 3GS and have it work still?

Once I jailbreak it and unlock it is there anything else I need to do? Do I need to mess with carrier settings or anything or will the unlocking process take care of that?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
