Hi,

I am currently on my second SR MBP 15" and both of them have the following problem, please help me see if yours has this problem too:

When a full screen black image is displayed on the screen and brightness put to max, and the extenal environment around you to be as dark as possible, looking at the screen straight on around 10cm from it, and look VERY VERY closely, small little green dots are seen.

It is smaller than a pixel, smaller than the sub-pixels(R,G,B), but there is definitely a green dot of light coming out from it.

The dots are perfectly fine showing full blackness when viewed straight on, but still focusing on that particular dot, move your head just slightly up,down, left and right, so that your viewing angle respecive of the "straight on" is around 5 degrees, the green dots are sometimes viewable. You would need a good pair of eyes to spot them though.(and a perfectionist mindset).

Well, not every pixel on the screen have this problem so you cant just randomly choose a pixel and move your head about and expect to find them, unless you have seen them and roughly know where they are, then the method can help you relocate the dots.

What i did was, i sweeped my head, 10cm from the screen, from left to right, then right to left quite slowly, and the green dots(numberous, unable to be counted) appear like those sparkling glitter dust.(those tiny metal shiny square bits things).

Given that these green dots does not show up when viewed straight on, it cant be defined as a stuck pixel, but my friend gave me a better name for it, that the light filter was "leaking", thus the green dots are only viewable at certain angles.

This is the explanaion i can give now for, any problems in understanding it please post and i will try to explain further how to spot them.

 if in normal use its fine then why bother?

indeed, in red only, green only, blue only, white only screens the green leaks are not visible, but the perfectionist mindset in me is not only when checking for dead pixels, its always there.

With a curved lid, this 2nd MBP is going back in again.
