I received my Apple iPhone X case in leather (saddle brown) on Nov 1 and was disappointed. Felt too smooth/plasticky and had only a faint smell of leather. I used it when the iPhone X arrived on Nov 3rd but immediately placed an order for the Sena Bence Leather Skin Snap case in brown. That case just arrived and is everything the Apple one should have been.

Packaging was nice with a large box and extra black pouch.

iPhone fit is perfect.

The leather has a textured feel and matte appearance. Great leather smell.

The buttons are MUCH nicer than the Apple version with a shiny aluminum finish that is far better than Apple's brown colored ones.

Just had to share some photos of them side by side.

Note: I paid for the case and have no connection with Sena.

Oh man! I'm torn between an Apple Leather case and the Sena Corsa II Racing Stripe leather case. If it's as good as the one you have shown, I may have to jump stat!

Always loved Sena products. Think I may go with this one instead of Apple's. Thanks OP!

Does the Sena case have a lip to protect the screen? What about the camera lens?

How does it feel to the touch? I tried Out and then returned the Apple leather case. It just didn’t feel good in the hand. So I’m wondering if this has a more “warmer, softer, little more supple texture to it. It certainly looks good.

Sena - hands down

Yes, the Sena has a lip similar to the Apple one. The camera is just slightly (a hair) recessed from back - unlike Apple's which is flush. Also has about 2mm space around camera unit unlike Apple which is tighter to the camera cutout.

Feel is awesome. Textured, velvety soft. The texture is starting to soften further with use as expected of a good leather product. Very curious how this will look in a month or two - I'm sure it'll only get richer in color with use.

It's the gap that would worry me, isn't that just going mean the inside of the case collects all manner of dust/lint?

The case has a really nice black velvet-like material on the inside that I did not photograph. Also, the cutout seems to sit flush with the glass back so I'm not concerned about dust entering but will watch for that.

If anything, I was annoyed with the amount of dust I saw collecting on the top front under-lip area of the Apple case and have not seen that in limited use with this one.

Wow !
I really love this Sena case.

It looks better than the Apple leather case. And your pictures are amazing.
Did you use your iPhone to take it ?

No - used my 'real' camera - Canon 5DmkIII. The iPhone X portrait mode is very, very nice but definitely needs a good amount of light to do its magic. Plus I put the iPhone straight in the Sena case ;-)

I love Sena Cases. Had the ultra slim pouch on all my iPhones. I have also ordered one for my X which is currently on preorder.

I’m looking forward to seeing how your case wears over the coming months. Hopefully it will look as good as the saddle brown Apple one does once worn.

Wow, this is a nice case. I really like the Corsa II racing stripe they have as well. I may have to see about a return of the Apple one as well for this one. Hum...

When you will receive your slim pouch, could you post here what you think about it and some pictures ?
It will help me to choose ;)

I hate the Sena logo. It's so large and unnecessary. Also I don't like the grain on the Sena case. It doesn't look like a natural leather to me, but rather a printed grain.

If you want a fine leather case look at Lucrin or Vaja. Vaja make great cases like the one you posted, while Lucrin makes really nice sleeves. I have ordered a Lucrin sleeve for the iPhone X which gives me protection from scratches or from the phone falling out of my pocket, but allows me to enjoy the phone naked while using it.

I prefer to see « real condition » pictures than pictures on brand website :)
Thanks

Funny, one of the reasons I dismissed Vaja was because of their logo on the back. The Sena one on the bottom side is much more discreet. Also, the Vaja seemed ridiculously overpriced in comparison to all other options.

The Sena may indeed be a printed grain (no clue) but the texture adds a nice grip to it that the Apple one was missing.

It's all a matter of personal taste. I think the SENA is unattractive (especially the name / logo printed in the side which to me is horrid). I also don't think it looks like anything that Apple would have produced as looks too used from the get go. That said I swore I wouldn't buy another Apple leather case because they looks wrecked far too quickly.

I like that X sleeve though. Not normally a fan of sleeves but could see me using to keep my X protected whilst in my bag especially now I have a :apple: Watch to see who might be calling etc.

I just ordered the Sena Bence folio wallet style case for my iPhone 10 earlier tonight. Does anyone know if their leather will show character and that patina process with use?

To go back to the topic of the original thread I had purchased a tan brown leather Apple case for my iPhone 10 and I’ve always noticed that all apple leather cases have a outer wax like layer to them which is fine with the colored ones but with a tan brown fine leather you expect it to show wear, age and character so I’ll post before and after pictures but I did some brainstorming and I figured out a way to totally remove that outer wax type layer that comes on the leather Apple case then after I went over once I applied a coat of mink oil which when I applied it before it was only repelled by the outer wax layer. I waited an hour them repeated the process of again removing the outer top layer then once again applied the mink oil and on my second go round it really absorbed it and now my apple leather case shows plenty of worn in aged character.

To the OP, how do you like the leather of the Sena? Is it of high grade fine quality? I really hope so because I just ordered it in the wallet style case in tan for my iPhone 10 and I have high hopes that it will in fact patina and begin to show its own worn in aged character too. I would love to know your thoughts of it so far.

To be honest, Apple and Sena leather cases use different type and quality of leather so of course they will have different textures. Apple's leather case is proven to have good patina and use life. Is there any review for old Sena cases? I once paid sh*tload of money to get my Vaja leather case from Argentina for my iPhone6+ back in the day, and it aged horribly!
