Send but can't receive emails..No hair left...!

Hi. One day all was working fine, then.... my iPhone will just not receive emails anymore..:mad:

I'm using wireless settings, my phone is unlocked, 8bg original iPhone model MA712LL running 1.1.1 (3A109a).

I have a G4 laptop working on the same wireless network and the email settings are exactly the same - laptop receives - iPhone doesn't!

I have some yahoo accounts and they are ok and receive.

I have two other email accounts using different servers. I've tried the local smtp setting and that didn't work. I'm on TMN Portugal (which shouldn't make any difference to anything).

Just can't connect to the servers.

Help :confused:

Update your firmware to 3.0 or 3.0.1. That might help. Or do a restore to your iPhone.

Yeh, thought that might help but I'm a bit worried that if I update the firmware the phone will lock and that's that! I've been religiously keeping to system 10.4.11 on my laptop so I don't get any problems with my iPhone - whadyareckon?

Scary...:eek: Actually, it's the iTunes I'm not upgrading past 7 because I really don't want to screw up my phone and get locked out and not be able to restore anything....

If I go through the 'restore' process from my laptop, would that be ok? I mean, that wouldn't lock me out would it?

I've had a look at a tut for 'restore' but it only went as far as to get the phone into 'restore' mode... Does iTunes then give you the option to restore settings?

Oh heck - I'm just going to go for it!!!! Downloading 8.2.1 - watch this space....

I am a bit worried though because it seems there's a lot of people having problems when they've used redsn0w?

Well...I knew this was a mistake....redsn0w is unable to recognize specified IPSW - GREAT!!!!!!

I followed the iClarified as close as I could, but of course certain things are never the same. It never gave me the option to restore, so I just updated the firmware from the apple site and though I could jb and unlock.

Guess not? Haven't got a phone now?

I'm assuming I've just downloaded a later version of firmware from apple which doesn't match the ipsw I have downloaded?
 
All is working fine. All upgraded. Just restoring all my files from iTunes now...

I am indeed the happiest man in my office at this moment in time! ;)
