Using iOS 13 with shortcuts for first time.

Trying to send an iMsg with the Messages action.

Send let’s me change to “Clipboard” but I can’t seem to change Recipient to a variable (the phone number I had selected from my contacts list).

Any help would be appreciated.

If understanding correctly, in the Shortcut, tap the slider icon at upper right. Toggle on "Show in Share Sheet". Then under Accepted Types, toggle on Contacts.

First action for the Shortcut is a Get Contact Details, select number. Pass that to the send message method.

Or, just ask for number.

Still not able to send imsg from my shortcut.

Using iOS 13.1

Have a phone number in a variable but shortcut will not allow me to change RECIPIENTS to that variable.

See attached screenshot.

Thanks for you help.

Touch and keep your finger (aka gentle press and hold) on the Recipients item. You should get a menu with the variables in the Shortcut. Tap the variable to replace "Recipients" with the variable.

Thanks for your response. I guess the key word is “gentle”. When I hit the Recipient item my shortcut kept showing my Contacts List. Your instructions did the trick.

Sometimes one needs additional eyes to solve simple problems.

Thanks again.
