iOS sending an SMS from an app

I've seen threads on the steps, and limitations, for sending an email from within an app. But what about generating an SMS? Can that be done from within an app, if so how, and does it have the same approach of closing your app and opening the SMS app with content and addressees that your app has provided?

I'm not aware of an SMS URL scheme, which means you'll probably have to use your own SMS gateway if you want your app to send messages.

There's not a documented one, but that's an oversight from Apple.

It only supports specifying an address though, not any content. Hopefully they'll add that.
