Sending text messages to multiple contacts?

Hello,

The phone is working amazingly.
But I can't seem to send out a text message to a group.

The group imports from my contacts (I have all contacts syncing), but when i send a text and select group, it just opens the group and forces me to select which member of the group to send it to. I checked the Apple forums and it seems like one person got it to work by just typing the name of the group int the "To:" field. This doesn't seem to work for me though.

Anyone else having this issue or have an idea on how to fix it?

I would really like to be able to send a text message to a couple of people at once. Just after I bought the iPhone and got it set up I was supposed to meet some friends out and I wanted to text them where & when to meet up. But i had to individually type out single texts to all of them which was really painful. I hope someone can figure this out or maybe apple can add it as a feature. Anyone had any luck doing it?

I am having the same issue. I just don't think it is available at this time. Hopefully it will come out as a feature upgrade. If anyone knows anything, get it up on the thread!

I was at the Apple Store today and the customer service rep said that it was definitely an issue and recommended emailing feedback@apple.com about it as others are wishing for the same feature. hopefully if they get a few emails about it they'll add it in a future update.

Yeah this is really frustering. Ugg, i also can't stand the fact that you can't search for names in the contact list. you have to scroll through the entire list. Silly.

I sent one to feedback to. Do they reply to those or are they information gathering only there?

I didn't get a reply, but the apple store rep seemed to think that they were really read, especially now after the iphone launch. i figure just 1 email might not mean much, but certainly a bunch of us emailing would make some impact. we'll see-the rep seemed to think it would be a good thing to do and mentioned that others were asking him the same thing when they were at the store.

there is a way to text multiple people, once you've entered in a contact, theres a + sign on the right hand side, but you still have to individually pick people... still saves typing it all out again, or copying and pasting it..
hope that helps. apple definitely should get on that.

Did either of you do the MMS carrier update 5.0 file? If so, go into settings and turn MMS OFF and you'll be able to send to multiple people. For some reason sending to several people is like sending an image.
