Sending text to email (not working in iOS5?)

I have terrible memory so a lot of times i'll send a text to my email with my phone as soon as i have the thought in my head before i forget. I always check my email when i get home so this has always worked out great for me. Not sure if it has anything to do with iMessage or iCloud but this no longer works for me in iOS5.

When i send the text from my iPhone my iPad will beep telling me i got a message in the messages app but the email app on my mac and iPad are not getting the text sent to them anymore... Anyone experiencing similar issues or know a way around this?

Why don't you just use the notes or reminders app? iCloud will sync them for you.

Have you configured your email address as iMessage account on the iPad ?
If yes then iMessage is sending the text as an iMessage instead of MMS to your email.

Try to turn iMessage OFF on the iPhone and send the text, does it work as you expect ? It should.

Why don't you just use the notes or reminders app? iCloud will sync them for you.

Reminders app is useful, but not for spontaneous thoughts. It takes me 1 second to click messages and send it compared to going through reminders and clicking here then there and putting a time for it to remind you, etc...

I figured it might have something to do with this but thats kinda lame that i'd have to completely turn iMessage off for this to work.

edit: and yes it did work but i had to completely turn off iMessages. also it wouldn't let me send it at first until i deleted all the messages associated with my email contact then remake a new one. Kept saying "must activate iMessage to send this text"... so it does work now but iMessage is completely deactivated.

Alas this is the way it's supposed to work. Once you assign your email address as iMessage account, when you use the iMessage app it will always try to send an iMessage to that address.

What you can do is use a different email address as iMessage account. iMessage will see that your other email is NOT an iMessage account and will try to send an MMS to it.
