Hi. I am finalizing a manual data-migration from my old macBook pro to my new macBook Pro.
(FWIW, there is too much difference in the age of my two Macs to do anything automated. And even if I could, I prefer not to take that approach.)
Just wanted to ask for a "second set of eyes" to make sure I am not missing anything obvious!!
Here is what I have done so far...
- Patched macOD on new MBP.
- Installed all new versions of the apps that I use on my old MBP.
- Patched everything.
- Backed up browser bookmarks.
- Copied over the directory for Thunderbird for my emails.
- Will be exporting MySQL databases and config files, so they can be installed on new MBP.
- Have made copies of all Dev config files (e.g. Apache), so they can be installed on new MBP.
- I don't use Music / iTunes / Movie or any of that, so there are no media files.
- Exporting VLC config files.
- And copying over everything under Documents is easy!
Anything else that is "hidden" in macOS or my SSD that I need to migrate over?
I do have backups of my old MBP, and will likely leave it in it's current state, but there is always the fear that one day I will re-purpose old backup HDD's or reinstal macOS on my old MBP and end up wiping out a ton of data that cannot be recovered (e.g. emails).
Thanks.
