After watching 15 crashing notices in a row, spent over an hour with Apple Care on the phone...then finding many new solutions to non-existent problems and other issues...I sent it back to Apple after two weeks...iTunes is now dead....and the process of dragging music from the mac to the iPhone is now much more complicated and slow....Apple Geeks decided there was nothing wrong with iTunes...lets delete it and replace it with “Music” and make it much more difficult to do simple tasks.....how about the “notifications” new addition...so when you get a new daily email from PCH sweepstakes and other spam...it can disrupt you by posting on the desktop. Sure hope everyone using BigSur loves this new feature. I replaced a mac mini 2011 running 10.3.6 and I am back to using it...BEWARE...I have been a Mac user since my Powerbook 150 and Apple has lost their way.....My BEAN simple word processing does not work on Big Sur and all the documents I made were not usable with BigSur....as well as other apps. ITs hard to believe that this OS or this Mac was truly tested before putting it out for users....Apple Sr. Advisor frustrated with this mini said...lets re-install the OS.....we tried....and it failed...that was it for me.

Why did you have iTunes and not Music?
Did you migrate old settings and apps to the new device?
If you don't like the notifications and can't change them to what you do like, turn them off.
Just a few ideas there

That's very unfortunate to hear...I have a very hard time reading your complaints though....ever heard of a period and paragraphs?....maybe you should complain to BEAN instead of Apple if their app doesnt work...
Big Sur does not have iTunes anymore...it was not broken so they decided to fix it. Quick drag and drop from the mac to the phone is now a long process.....The Crash notices were for some esoteric apple something...I did not take notes + I was unable to copy mp4 files of about 30mb to a thumb drive.....the loading went back and forth and 8 hours later...it still had not copied...I am on my 2011 Mac mini now and I copied those same exact files to a thumb drive in a matter of a few minutes....I ask...why did they think it was good idea for junk mail etc to get shown on the desktop? Did the feedback to apple ask for this???????Very vague.

Yeah...sure...I will just get them on the phone right away.... I am sure they will take the responsibility for BigSur not working on this app et al....
Tell me...was iTunes broken? Did it need to be replaced? Copy/Paste has not been improved since OS7...but apple did not think of that...plus how about improving Address Book so you can change fonts, colors etc...apple never thought of that either...how about improving the Find function???Very vague.

Sounds like you had a bad experience, but... I’ve only heard good things about the M1 hardware so far.
I am sure Big Sur is still in its infancy, like every other OSX/MacOS has been in their first months after release, but even then I haven‘t heard all that many complaints. Certainly not as many as we had after the Catalina release.
Yet, I am using Catalina now and it seems quite fine to me... including Music which you dislike so much.
I am sorry for your bad experience and I hope you find a way to do your computing in a trouble free manner, but one bad experience does not make the norm.
Apart from the fact that many people will tell you that indeed iTunes was bad and it did need to be replaced (not me, by the way), your statement sounds like something coming out of a Luddite.
If you like iTunes and old MacOS so much, why did you try to upgrade to a machine that doesn’t support either?

Yes they will. If their app doesn't work on the latest version of MacOS they have two choices, either fix the app or stop selling it. I am guessing they will go with the first option.
Of course the problem may not be Big Sur, perhaps their app doesn't work with Rosetta 2. You were perhaps a little too quick to jump onto the bleeding edge of technology with an M1 Mac.
