Well they sent me box to send it in, and I had the box in my room for about a week thinking about it. I was sending it in for the "whine", but then I installed magic noise killer and it was fine. I did'nt mind the battery loss cuz most of the time i have it plugged in. But after I downloaded to 10.4.6, the magic noise killer app didnt work anymore so i finally sent it in. It went out this past wed. (4/19/05) and they received it yesturday. It seems like theyve acknowleged the whine issues because on the box it was under:

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: 604- Whine/Hum.

I just checked my status online today and it says the part they need is on order. So i called the rep to see which was the part, and he said it was the inverter. Weird because I was sure the whine was'nt coming from the screen, it was more from the right side of the keyboard so I figured they would replace the logic board. So he said to call back by tuesday, by then they should have recieved their "major shipment". He says that it "looks like it will be making its promised 5-7 day turnaround". Hopefully because i miss my mac dearly.

Good luck. Mine came back- same whine, same lcd buzz. It had a new scratch on the side to boot. Apple will not give me a new computer, so my only option is another repair. Now they are telling me all buzz and whines are within spec. They gave me a free 512 stick- which I have NO use for. I upgraded to 2 gig on my own.

I am now going to have to be without it for another 2-3 weeks. And before anyone says to demand a refund or a new one- I did- and was told no. I feel like I have no real options. So for those thinking of sending it in- don't. They won't fix it and it may come back worse.

well w/e i cant do anything now, if they do send it back and its the same i'll have to go into the retail store i bought it at and start a rampage. I don't care i'll kick and scream until I get my way. I work in a retail pharmacy, and believe me the customer is always right. Even more so if what they're fighting for is in their corner.

Apple have had my MacBook Pro for 5 days now (4 working days) and yet seem to be strangly flumoxed by the common processor whine issue, so much so that they are still diagnosing it. I rather expected them to either immediatly send it back saying 'no problem here' or quickly replace the processor or board or some such thing and send it back.

It's rather annoying this lack of communication (I phoned up and the woman just repeated what the website said) - it makes you wounder if they have actualy looked at the problem at all.
