Sent sms & mails appearing in Inbox?

Why do sent sms-es & emails appear in inbox on my 3Gs? I have a yahoo & a rediffmailpro POP3 server accounts. I have seen threads recommending "turn recent mode off". But that recent mode does not exist in my mail account settings.

not sure onyour SMS problem, but for email, log into your account on a computer and go into settings, just check there isnt a tab selected which will copy sent items to inbox - my gmail account did that initially until i figured it out!
