Did anything actually happen with this feature they talked about at WWDC?

It seemed like an interesting idea for iOS 13/Catalina, but I can't find anything about it being implemented or what actually happened to the feature.

Yes, this would be the natural solution, together with a separate iCloud account.

It's just the issue of cost, alas.
