Ok this may seem like something stupid that is impossible. But i'm going to ask it anyway...

Ok... so is it possible to put in my headphones in and still have audio coming out of the speakers... (so i'm using both my earphones and both of my speakers)

If yes... is it possible to split the audio (say i'm using logic or Reason) to make one track come out of the speakers and another layer or track to come out of the headphones.

The reason i ask is i'm trying to do a quick production on my MBP C2D and i'm really starting to struggle not being able to do it like i DJ. Hear the audio through one ear and what i want cut in with the other through my ear phones.

you can get a stereo splitter to use headphones and speakers at once, a y cable from radio shack.

as for the other, i'm going to guess no.

edit: sorry i wasn't thinking laptop. i don't think this would be possible with the internal speakers.

Use the splitter. Then pan one of your tracks 100% to your left speaker - and the other 100% the your right speaker. Disconnect the left speaker, thus, one track is now playing in the right speaker. Use earplugs, and only put the left channel in your one-ear.

Very complicated workaround - but this gives you one track playing from one speaker, and another track player in one ear! ;)

(put im not sure I get WHY!!?!? )
