so many tuesday's have gone buy and no update for the macbook pro. Is there a possibility even though the news says nothing about macbook pro and macbook getting merom?

Most people say this topic has been beat to death. If you scroll down and maybe go a few pages back you may find all the opinions you want:)

Right now it's all speculative

There are so many threads on this topic. A new thread every 2 seconds is getting rather old and annoying.

Please use the search and join an open discussion.

i'm pretty sure steve watches these threads. I wouldn't be surprised if he actually starts any of these merom threads.

Yeah Steve, marketing, the engineers, and some other people who work for the company.
Nah, I bet Steve tells them THE NIGHT BEFORE!! Just because he's a mad man like that and has to keep everything SUPER DUPER SECRET OMG!!!

Oh yeah, I am sure the engineers slap it together over night too or theywork in the dark while steve walks around with night vision googles cracking a whip.

Nobody knows anything. People can speculate and guess all they want, but when that certain tuesday comes around that everyone said would have something happen on, they just choose a later date and wait for it to come around.

So to answer your question: We don't know, and never will until the 12th.

If I have to see another one of these topics I'm going to break my promise not to post here.

There -- Ive gone and done it.

I want a new Macbook Pro, you want a new MacBook -- we all want a new Mac on Sept. 12th -- too bad that we don't have 100% accurate information or it would have been posted on the front page already!

We get it, we have to wait to find out.

SO WAIT!

I am -- scan the headlines, go to MR, ThinkSecret, AppleInsider and even MacOSRumors (they arent making up lies now?) every 4 minutes like the rest of us -- just stop posting topics on it already!

Missing Macbook Pro!

I was in CompUsa Tuesday Evening the 5th. I don't know if this means anything, but when I made my way over to the Apple section I noticed the usual 15" Macbook Pro display on the end cap. The 15" Macbook Pro was not there. It was gone except for the display materials. Could this mean that they are ready to roll out the Merom based models? Could it mean a design change? :D Has anyone else noticed the missing 15" Macbook Pro?

K

P.S. - The 17" was still displayed on the shelf with the macbooks

All it means is that the people at that CompUSA suck. Someone could have damaged or broken the display model and they were in the process of replacing it. It could also mean a number of other things that are specific to that store only. Don't create assumption at a national level, when your info comes from a local level.

I know that when i worked there years ago the idiots up at management decided to move mac from a high traffic area to dark and dingy corner so they could pput a pos vaio inits plcae we just slammed the vaio screen down while it was in the security display ripping the screen off and a week later apple was back. It also helped we went around management and complained directly to our apple rep and his boss. And Yes - not only does comppusa suck but they mangae to blow at the same time making that combination a lose lose situation for people thata have any questions or are lookinng for anything and not just apple prod.

I could see a complete redesign of the mbp to go more along the line of a mb. The redesign could address many of the heat issues that have been popping up and make sure apple is ready for santarosa when it is available next year. But the redesign seems more of a macworld jan07 thing. Who knows

I said I didn't know if it meant anything. I don't know how I could have been more non-assuming. It was just an observation; give me a break and get over yourself.

The entire Apple section is already in the back corner of the store. Also, I checked the CompUSA website for several zipcodes including my own and in other states, and most of the stores were almost or completely out of Macbook Pros.

The 17" MBP has never been displayed at my CompUSA. I asked why about Late July and i was explained that the only 17" they had gotten in was sold the day it came out and had not received any since...

Heck it took them till end of may to get the 15" MBP in to CompUSA...

But they did get the mac pro last week of august... I think compUSA is trying to step up now...
