Hi,

I couldn't figure out how to word this question to google it, so I thought I'd ask here instead. As I've recently bought an ipod touch, I'm trying to sell my ipod video on ebay.

Today I got a question from someone asking for the serial number. It doesn't make sense to me that they'd need this...is there any valid reason they'd be asking for it, or is it a hoax?

Thanks, and sorry if I've asked something that's been covered somewhere!

Not a scam. They probably want to check it out at Apple's site to see how old it is or verify that you really have one to sell.

Thanks. I have all the information based on the model number and such; it was a question that I'd never seen before so I wanted to make sure!

yeah, that's a legit question. make sure the unit is as-described and not stolen.

That's a responsible buyer.
