I always found the large apple watches (at least the recent ones) too large/chunky for my taste. I prefer the look of the smaller watches on my wrist, although in the past, the small apple watches have been just that little too small.

The 42mm is the perfect sweet spot for me. I really can't imagine wearing the larger one - this is plenty big enough for me.

Here are some photos including some comparisons between the series 6 40mm and the Series 10 42mm.

Looks nice! What size does your wrist measure?

I have a Series 7 Titanium 45. My wrists are on the smaller side. I feel the new 46 would look too big. Interested in 42.

My other concern is materials. The new Titanium finish is polished and has a coating so it cannot but buffed out if you have scratches. Obviously aluminum is a no go.

I can appreciate this. As someone who went from a Series 4 44mm to a Series 7 41mm due to the fact that I always found the 44mm to be just a little too big. I really like both of my 41mm on wrist but have thought once or twice it could be just a bit bigger.

May have to check the 10s out.

I feel like they should push 3 sizes
46 as it is fine but I think i would like something like 40 and 43. 40 for kids / women with small wrists and 43 for mens with small wrists and women with larger wrists
I am a men with small wrists and I feel like I would like the current small one just a tiny bigger but overall I prefer like you said 42 over 46

I would probably switch down to the smaller one with the Series 10 (I've had the larger size for years now), but like others, I've amassed a collection of beloved bands (including some Hermes) in the larger size. I'd hate to give them up.

I'm very interested in how the small one has finally caught up to the "big" one from the original 2015 release. I've been using the 42/44/45 for a long time now, has anyone tried using some of those OG 42mm bands in the new smaller Series 10?

Yes. I think so for me too. I went from the 42mm S2 to 44mm S4 and 5 to 45mm S9. Happy to be back to 42mm. Wrist is also 17cm.

I've heard of people doing this. They said the bigger bands can be slid into the smaller size watches, but the ends of the connector stick out a bit.

No, but I have been using my 38/40mm bands on my dad's old S5 44mm for the last couple of months. (The battery on my S4 watch goes dead after a few hours, and so I trade it out with his S5 watch--just biding time until the S10 watch arrives. However, the only band he had is nylon, which I don't care for at all.)

It's just the reverse as what you've heard; the band works fine, but the ends of the connectors are a little short. It's so minimal that I doubt anyone has noticed. If they do notice anything about the watch, they're probably wondering why someone with such small wrists is wearing such a large watch.

Thanks for sharing.

Can you please show both with a white watch face so we can see how much bigger the display looks? Cheers.

I was very skeptical when the rumors said that the Series 10 would come in 46 mm only.

I've always had the small version. With average wrists, I just never wanted the big ones.

Now, when it became clear that the rumor was wrong, and Apple delivered smaller 42 mm version, it was time to upgrade my Series 8 41 mm.

First impression, the Series 10 42 mm is close to perfection, size wise:

Note: I've loosened the band slightly since taking the picture... ;)

I had my heart set on a 42 mm S10 as well, but going to the store I tried both models. I wasn't sure whether the 42 mm was the new S10 or if it was the S9 or older. I have tiny wrists but as I tried the bigger 46 mm it didn't feel too big. And it felt much more as a new watch compared to the 42 mm. Maybe it's the larger surface that makes it feel thinner as well, where the smaller is of course also thinner but the body is more compact. With the bezels and all I think the design looks more balanced on the bigger model then on the smaller. That is probably the best way I can describe it.

Long story short - I ended up with the 46 mm in jet black. It looks amazing!!! My previous watches has been the Ultra 2 and before that the stainless steel models in either the 41 or 44/45 models.

So my advice would be to go and try on the new models :)

@DCIFRTHS - which size are you going for?
This will be my first Apple Watch.

I want the 46mm size because of the bigger screen, but with a small wrist, I have a feeling the smaller size will be better for me.

So… I’m going to try them both on at the Apple Store to see which is more comfortable, and secondly which looks better.

I have a feeling the smaller size will probably work better for me.

I’ve had the larger watch since the series 0 42mm. Now that the small one is that size, I thought I would give it a try. Very happy I did. Fits so much better than my 45mm series 9.

Yes - best to try both! I bet you get the 42mm one. The screen is plenty big enough.

I am SO happy with my S10. I’m coming from a series 8 SS, and I love the look of the stainless, but not the weight. I had also been on the fence about going bigger, but honestly, the 45 was already pushing it. I was so glad they bumped the small one up just a little. I am absolutely thrilled with the size, weight, etc.

I had always had aluminum before my SS S8, and I’ve literally never had a scratch on one, so I had zero issues going back other than the stainless looking so good with my wedding ring nearby (white gold).
