Can anyone advise on how much music storage space there is on the series 5?

I had a series 2 and you could only save up to 2GB of music directly on the watch. It is my understanding that the series 3 and 4 had the same limitation, even on the 16GB models, though I may be mistaken here? Has this limitation been lifted or set to a new limit in the series 5?

Thanks

2GB was NOT the limit for music on the 3 and 4. I had much more music than that on those two watches. Not sure about the 5 but am assuming most of it would be available for music.

Really? I'm pretty sure it was on the series 3? I remember reading about it when it came out, it was a complaint by the reviewer. I think I saw a thread on here about it too, so I decided not to upgrade at that point.

Great news if it's definite not that case now though, all I need is about 8GB to be happy.

Thanks for the reply igrover

I have a series 4. It has 16GB and presently I have 9.3GB free for music/apps/photos storage.

Thanks guys

I appreciate you posting the link @aloper. I was aware that the storage space had been increased but I wasn't sure that there was no imposed limit on music storage, specifically. The series 2 had 8GB, but could only store 2GB of music. I'm never sure how to take these reviews (for reasons I mentioned in post #3, which seem to be debunked in post #2). I'm not sure how thorough they actually are when looking at all the small details, and the phrasing in that link is very generic, not specific. However, I think you guys have answered my question. I appreciate your answers...you've just save me some money :)

Six Mac Abs is right that there was a limit specific to MUSIC only. There may have been 9GB on the Series 4 for music, photo's, etc but for music I think it was less than that. I think it may have been 4gb. Apple didn't want people to load so much music that there was no room for Apps or photos.

FWIW, I'm downloading a 10gb playlist to my Series 5 right now and it's over half way done. I'll report back if it errors out.

Thanks @perezr10, I'd super appreciate that! 😊

I'd also appreciate anyone with a series 4 who may be able to chime in? If it turns out that this limit (for music specifically) doesn't exist on a series 4, and I can get at least 8GB of music on it....I'd be super happy to know, because it would save me a ton of cash if the S4 can do what I need, as I'm happy to buy 'used'.

I made a list of 'cons' for the S2, and that limit was one of them. If it's gone now, literally every single one of my 'cons' has been addressed (earlier than I realised, apparently )

Well, it bombed on me at 8.1gb. I can't get more than 8gb of music on my Series 5. I don't know if it's a system limitation or a temporary bug.

2GB on 8GB watches
4GB on 16GB watches
8GB on 32GB watches.

sounds about right. Rule of thumb, just keep essentials on there, it’s not like the battery is stellar.

This I did not know. I only have 10 songs on my Watch as the rest are on my Phone and Mac.

Do podcasts count against those quotas? Pandora offline stations? Tnx

I have Apollo for Spotify on my S4, doesn't seem to count against the music quota as long as it's a separate app.

The numbers I gave are soft limits which means if I added playlists amounting to 4.1GB, the watch will still let me sync (but I can't add another playlist anymore).
