Serious bandwidth issues

I have a couple HD movies and tv shows on my Mac Pro. Just got an Apple TV a week or so ago.

Got the whole thing setup and functioning. Apple TV says I have 4/5 bars for the wireless signal but buffers every 25-30 seconds.

The router is an Airport Extreme (Time Capsule). I had it setup via WDS with another Airport Express. Neither of the two configurations work. They're just downright terrible.

I've turned off WDS.
I've changed the multi-cast mode from 2mbps, to 5.5 and even 11. No changes.
I've changed the wireless channel

Nothing seems to work.

Any suggestions before I sell this piece of crap and the router, I'm half tempted to go all Office Space on them both with a baseball bat.

WDS will cut your speed in half if you are connected to the remote base.

all multicast rate does is prevent devices that would connect below that from connecting. doesn't actually improve signal, just keeps you from having a crappy one.

before changing the channel. did you use somthing like istumbler to check out the other channels in the area? also, channels must be 5 numbers apart to not overlap, so 1,6,11 are the only truly separate channels. if you only went from 6 to 7, you are still pretty much in the same space.

do you have any cordless phones or microwaves? make sure those are off.

what is the construction like on your home? wood studs and drywall, metal studs, cinder block, old plaster that could have chicken wire in it. depending on this no router may work well.

does the signal go through the wall at a right angle? if you have 2 things on opposite sides of the wall, and at opposite ends (diagaram below), then the signal is going through the wall the entire time, so you reception will suffer.

Just the opposite here.

Apple tv and airport extreme on a 5ghz n connection is streaming HD content without a hiccup. This is the first setup and only setup that I have successfully been able to stream consistent HD with and I have tried a lot of the other solutions out there.

Try setting in 5 GHz, you might have some interference from the neightborhood. Also make sure tge interference robustness option is checked.
