My daughter has 1st gen airpods, and they only last about 30 minutes before needing to be charged. My 2nd gen don’t last nearly as long as they used to, either - I get maybe 2-3 hours. We’ve tried resetting them multiple times, doesn’t help. Do these things just have a limited life span?

I also have a set of AirPod Pros, but can’t use them because the silicone makes my ears itch like crazy.

Yeah, decent battery life lasts about 18 months. It goes downhill fast after that.

But to be fair, I’ve always been willing to spend $100+ on headphones before AirPods ever existed. And NONE of them ever last much more than year either. If I bought some expensive headphones I tried to use them only on special occasions so that they’d last.

In the old days, if you use non-Apple headphones a few times per week, let alone every day like some AirPods users, you were bound to have issues. The wires would eventually get brittle and break or the sound would cut out of one side. And don’t even think about getting them wet or dropping them.

AirPods are actually some of the most resilient headphones I’ve ever seen. I’ve literally run them through the wash and they still worked. The fact that they even last long enough that you get the chance to complain about the battery is a big win.

And like yourself, I use my 2nd gen AirPods more than my AirPod Pros simply because they’re more comfortable. I only use my Pros when I mow the lawn now.
