I brought up Mail, and then opened Rules. Now the Rules Screen is up, and I cannot close it. The bottom of the Rules Screen is below my Dock, cant get to it to make it smaller, and I cant close it. As a result, I cant close Mail, tried shutting the computer down, and it wont let me do that either, because the Mail has to be shut down first, which I cant do. Can someone help me with this?

Does FORCE QUIT (CMD+OPTION/ALT+ESC) work to close Mail?

Maybe this can also help.

Thanks very much!

That worked just fine. Thanks very much.
I wonder why opening the rules screen did that.
Anyway, I am a relatively new Mac user, and am usually able to work my way through these kind of issues, but this one had me stumped. Agn, thanks. :)

Mail Rules extending off screen work around

When more than 25 rules are added the Mail Rules Window will extend off the screen, taking the control buttons out of view. Fortunately the Accept or OK button is still active so the window can be closed by hitting the Return Key.

You may get a rule you were going to cancel out of but you got control back.

Another screwup is the Window Size Control button for that window resizes the grayed out window the next level below.

The problem has been repeatedly reported and confirmed since OSX 10.4 five years ago when the feature was introduced.
