Yeah, really click bait-y article. And not great advice, imo.

Big issue with the Protect Mail Activity option is that it does download remote content, which will trigger tracking images. Sure, you hid your IP but the spammer/marketer still knows they have a live one as the tracker got triggered.

Better option is to leave that off and turn on the other two options. Will still hide IP address when downloading and will not download trackers unless you explicitly do it for an email.
