Okay, so before anyone suggests moving this thread to another part of MacRumors, I sincerely ask this in a philosophical type of way.
Back in 2011 when Apple released the iPad 2 they came out with 10 Smart Cover colors. 5 in polyurethane and 5 in leather.
PolyUrethane were gray, blue, green, orange and pink.
Leather were Cream, Tan, Black, Blue and Red.
Out of nowhere, like literally no more than a month or two since their release, Apple quietly replaced the orange Smart Cover with a ‘dark gray’ Smart Cover option, which seems odd since gray was already available.
why didn’t Apple want orange anymore?
also, it isn’t like the orange smart covers are super rare today, you can buy them second hand for about the same price as any other Smart Cover. But I get the feeling a lot of people don’t know this is even a thing. But it should be. Cause it doesn’t make sense to initially advertise orange and then just quickly shove it under the rug.
