Well last week my MBP's magsafe had a hole burnt into the wire, near the connector. (I all ready had a thread on that, though). well on monday I got a new power adapter, charged the battery and noticed on a full charge I was struggling to get just over 2 hours, as apposed to 3.5 hours before the incident. I've drained and charged it about three times so far and gone down in total capacity each time. right now I'm at 50% capacity. according to coconut battery, at a full charge.

well apple replace this? I'm still under warranty for a couple more weeks.

edit: ohh yah after the incident, my load cycles went from the couple hundreds, to anywhere from 3 to 7... I'm really confused on that.

Yep, that sounds like a battery fault. Possibly caused by the power supply shorting out. Bring it to Apples' attention, they will probably replace it without any problems. I would mention that you had a previous problem with the power supply shorting out the cable, and thank them for replacing it.
