My Mac Developer account expired just before the 4.0 beta was released. I can't really afford to get it back again at the moment but I was wondering if someone could tell me something.

Is appconfig for iOS available yet or is it still only an option for OS X? I'm really hoping they add it as the number of dedicated MDM servers out there are limited and pricey.

If not does anyone know if there's been any word from Apple on its potential implementation?

Thanks.

That's what we're running (my business partner and I) but we've been doing some market research into our target audience for an App we're making and 80% of our potential customer base are running an Apple server to drive their Mac's and iOS devices. It'd suck to say..."look here's our App but to use it fully you're gonna have to buy a new server solution".

We are at the point where we are considering building a stand alone MDM program to run along side server 3 using some ruby on rails code that Apple kindly gave to us but at the time when we asked them about MDM config for iOS devices they said they had no plans to implement it in server 3.

We were hoping Server 4 would introduce the capability and save us a lot of trouble, especially seeing as Apple banged on about it so much at WWDC '13 but a year has passed and it looks like it's been put on the back burner. The Mac interface in Server works perfectly, I have no idea what's stopping them from making an iOS interface. I can't imagine it'd take them too long and seeing as the protocol is fully supported in iOS 7 there surely can't be any security concerns.

The only upside is we may be able to generate some additional revenue from our "plugin"

Sorry to change topic, but what's the app about? And no worries if you are not willing to share that info yet.

I'd rather not say at this moment in time. I will say it's aimed at the education market though, which is one of the reasons why suggesting an alternative server is out of the question, a lot of schools here are strapped for cash.
